The General Election result was not as unexpected. Nevertheless, the people of Sabah and Sarawak stood loyal to the incumbent Government unlike their counterpart across the South China Sea.

Results of the Parlimentary Election 2008: Sarawak

• BN - 30 seats
• DAP - 1 seat (Bahagian Kuching)

Nationwide
- The use of transparent ballots' boxes.
- The use of pencil was maintain due to request from PDRM.
- 1.4 million first time voters.
- 70% voters turnout (Sarawak @ 59.7%)
- Simple majority (140:80)
