The last for him, maybe

Tuan Haji Hassan was announced to leave BDC next year, date to be decided. He looks happy, doesn't he?

The first for them

Mike Tyson and Stephen Chow landed in BDC on the last day of 2007. Opss..Mike and Stephen reported for their training on the last day of 2007. Their first day must looked pretty strange because nobody was expecting them. The person in-charge was still on annual leave and the officer overseeing lost track of their schedule. Something about New Year. Our apology for not giving the two of you a warm welcome. Nevertheless, welcome on board. Hope that you would gain useful insight from your stay. Remember to practice your Negaraku and Ibu Pertiwi for next assembly, right.

Mike Jackson Tsal
Stephen Ak Nyambar

Oh ok, will get their fullname the next time round.

Goodbye 2007

Suhaili leading the Rukunegara recitation

The General Assembly held on the last day of 2007 saw only half of the staff attending, most were still on annual leaves and/or sick leaves. The General Manager summarized our Profit & Loss for the year and briefed us on our plans for the following year. A lot of changes are to take place and he assured us that all of us will be involved in the exercise because without us, what is BDC... There was a lesson on economic, the US style and the Japanese saving habits. And not forgetting global warming.

Representatives of birthday's mammas and papas for the month of September, October and December.

Didn't catch the joke!

Biggest cake for the year.

Mohd Dollah in the foreground scooping breakfast and lunch while Lay Yong thinking hard to eat or not to eat ...

Zaidi - happy birthday to you too.

White Christmas - Nicht

I'm wishing for a white Christmas
Just like the one I used to have...
But unfortunately, I'm now in the tropical land
and I'm going to have wet Christmas instead!

Rain or no rain, Christmas is around the corner. Minus the weekends and Hari Raya Qurban holiday in between, we have only a mere 15 days. Have you done all the shopping for gifts yet? Don't forget to scratch my name on the list - a box of chocolate will do.

Time to decorate and here are the trees popping up for the season.

Lim & Julia on one tree.

Joana & Roslyn on another.
Will show you the outcome when the light goes up!

Annual Dinner 2007

Harbour View might have thought that it was the out of necessary - speech, eat, karaoke, lucky draws and then they go home. It was actually the actual plan. Fortunately, the unfortunate declining of every Board Members and the executives to cheerish the night turned the night around.

It was the first for me to see all the ladies up on the floor, except the anak solehah Julia who IS thinking hard not to join in the next time round - loose feet and all; the men chickening in and out.

The three mission speech by Encik Affandi Keli who is now the General Manager, officiale. One of his missions NEED to get through or more moons are going to be lighted up.

The rest of the nights was - you got to have a look to know, wouldn't you? Photos however are still with the cameraman.

Blue Wrap and Red Tie

Its the season to be jolly, lalalalala-lalalala

The final decision rested with Mary. Two thumbs up determine the winner of the gift wrapping game. Wrap-it and tie-it up.

Mohd Dollah in black, is already tying his ribbon when competitor Hamdan is still in the process of wrapping. Another competitor, Suhaili (right) tries to work with the cellotapes.

GM bursting his wrapper. 'Disqualified!' cried the MC.

p/s Puan Azizah, if you get a nicely wrapped gift from yours sincerely, you know, he didn't do it.

Mohd Dollah getting thumbs up from Mary, emerged the winner of the game - receiving his prize from Puan Azizah.

Origami Basket eu BDC

The participants were selected based on their previous knowledge of making the origami basket. This is a competition to test their skills, speed, technic and strategies. Papers are usually derived from poor magazines, duplicate brochures or any type of paper that is available (emmm... there goes the bulletin). Folding skill is a pre-requisite while cutting or snipping skill is secondary; the basket can be made without any cutting (for lighter content-holding). The participants had been practising for the past few months. Tonight is the night to unfold the champion in this particular origami-basket-making.

Joana in purple folding a few pieces of paper in half while Siti Zubaidah in pink, tearing some pieces off the magazine.

Dahlia (left) already starting to fold her origami while Mary (right) just begin to rip the poor magazine.

Zainab serious at work.

The champion for magazine ripping and origami making goes to: Mary!

Steel Clips vs Steel Fingers

What does a technical guy has in common with the paper clip?
Both have fingers of steel! Okay, maybe practise make perfect and to lessen the stiffness. Superman, Superman ....

The task is to clip the paper with as many paper clips as they can within 2 minutes (requested by time-keeper). Sound easy. Even a photostate machine can do it in this technological era. After the word 'GO', it really was not as easy as imagined!

Francis laughing at himself. Singing the whole night through is much, much easier for him.

Anthony in red with Suhaili on his left, showing the rest how easy it was to learn new skills.

Ranggie (left) and Mahmud (right) having difficulty with long-sightedness. Should have brought along his glasses, eh!

Zainab (left) counting the clips by Suhaili. 31 on first and second count. It's a tie!

Anthony and Suhaili going for the tie breaker - the fastest to chain up ten paper clips. If you have done it, you would know what to do.

Anthony receiving his prize from Siti Zubaidah. He beaten Suhaili by 4 paper clips.

Plucking Baby Beans' tails

This is not a game. Its a competition. The participants had been practising since the 60's. The task requires speed and coordination. The one having the heaviest tailess babies win!

Jorinah (left) trying to keep her cool while Inie (right) getting her strategy right.

Inie (left) laughing ~ child play. Roslyn (right) concentrating at the little tails.

Julia (left) ~ wishes her mum was around to act as proxy. Grace (far right) ~ dressing up for a cooking demonstration! @#%(

Puan Azizah, sporting all the way. "Out of all the things.." must be playing in her mind. No surveying school in the world has this in their programs.

Roslyn emerged the winner at 3.5 ounce (he he); receiving her prize from Zainal.

Amazing Spider Race without a mouse

This is a game that tests one sorting skills, speed, hands-eyes coordination, strategy, pictorial recognition, moving skills and of cause understanding the instructions. The participants had practised the routine for years BUT with the help of a mouse. Without the mouse, it was purely men versus devious moves plus good luck.

Being briefed by the coordinator who didn't know what to call the faces of the pack.

Zaidi (left) can't believe his luck when Sabri (right) returned his pack.

Mohammad (left) looking for diamonds. The only one who got a red beginning. Zainal (right) was fast on the sorting but he didn't run to the finishing point first.

Zaidi who won the game, getting his cards scrutinized by Zainab. Winning is fun!!

Sing, Sing Songs

Grace ~ There's a Kind of Hush

Suhaili ~ Hujan

Saberi ~ Botol Cap Apek
